That the council update the members on possible traffic safety measure at local schools, namely Ballyroe and Kilberry, can the traffic management section investigate the issue and talk further to the NTA in relation to seeking funding.
Report: The Council has received several observations from schools in the County which all detail traffic safety measures either suggested or requested by the schools. There is no specific funding stream for these works that are almost exclusively required due to the high levels of pupils being driven to school.
The matter will be raised with the NTA but resolving motorised traffic management issues at rural schools is not likely to be allocated significant funding.
Can the council bring the road at Rickardstown Lower, Kildangan up to a proper standard?
Report from the Western Area Office: The Western Area Office will examine this location and carry out remedial repairs as required. It should be noted that the area office is not in a position to carry out significant road improvements at this time. It should also be noted the Western Area Office will be carrying out road resurfacing in the coming areas in the adjoining areas near the Cush, Kildangan Village including Crosskeys Junction and Duneany. The cost of the works will be in the order of €290,000.
Can the council investigate and resolve the problem with the footpath at The Square, Castledermot?
Report: There are a number of issues in relation to footpaths in Castledermot that will be reviewed towards the end of the year when the surfacing season comes to an end. Kildare County Council Page 3 of 5
Can the council confirm when the traffic safety measures and road re-surfacing as previously discussed for the Riverstown and Derryoughter areas of Kildangan will be carried out?
Report from the Western Area Office: The Area Office has examined this road and will carry out remedial works as required. It should be noted that, based on the current road condition, significant road works are not required. Other planned works will be taking place in the area as outlined in the response to motion 6 above.
That the council confirm the up to date position in relation to the leasing of lands to Kilcullen GAA Club.
Report: The Director of Services, Planning & Economic Development has arranged to meet with the Chairman of Kilcullen GAA in this regard.

That the council update the members on the long term leasing proposals as announced by the Government, are there any other housing schemes being discussed with the department to alleviate the council housing list.
Report: The Social Housing Leasing Initiative was first introduced in February 2009. The scheme allows for the long-term leasing of privately owned properties, the temporary use of unsold affordable homes and the long-term provision by approved housing bodies. The scheme allows for the provision of social housing through more flexible support mechanisms through a revenue based supply mechanisms. The Council has entered into agreements, in conjunction with a number of voluntary housing bodies, in respect of 90 units.
The Council is in consultation with a number of property owners and voluntary housing bodies throughout the county to deliver further units.
The Council will shortly launch the Part VIII for the development of 13 units at Athgarvan Road, Newbridge through the Social Housing Investment Programme and is progressing the provision of 45 units at Coneyboro, Athy in conjunction with a voluntary housing body.
