Reports from Council – Ballykelly Gfc, Castleroe, Ferns Bridge , Old Grange Wood, Shared Ownership, Investment in Athy

That the council update the members of this committee on the proposed roads works programme for the Monasterevin area and will the road to Ballkelly GFC be improved as part of such a programme.

Report: Due to the limited value of the funding allocated the Kildare Area Office is unable to include this section of road in the 2014 Road Works Programme. Until such time as funding is available the Area Office will monitor the area and will undertake remedial repair works as

Can the council upgrade the footpaths at the Castleroe West housing estate, Maganey as a matter of urgency?

Report: There are no plans to undertake works in this area at present. Kildare County Council will undertake a survey of the footpaths in this area. Depending on the results of this survey the Area Office can include it on a list of works for 2015.

Can the council confirm the up-to-date position with the taking in charge of Old Grange Wood and Ferns Bridge, Monasterevin and Lipstown Manor and Oak Park, Narraghmore given recent discussions in Dáil Éireann regarding the taking in charge process?

Report: Old Grange Wood in Monasterevin and Ferns Bridge also in Monasterevin have not been completed and therefore cannot be considered for taking in charge at present. There has been no change in the status of Lipstown Manor and Oak Park since the report to the Area Committee in February.

That the council confirm if it will offer those paying a shared ownership loan the opportunity to take out a council loan/mortgage instead, as it seems other local authorities have offered this option and if the council have had any updates on the reform of the shared ownership scheme.

Report: The council will consider all applications for the transfer of a Shared Ownership loan to a House Purchase Loan on a case by case basis based on the criteria of the House Purchase Loan and the ability of the applicant to repay the loan.

Can the council provide a fence for safety along the stream in the Castlepark estate, Kildangan as a matter of urgency?

Report: The matter will be investigated to assess the location, suitability and cost of the member’s request.

Cllr Wall
Can the council confirm the arrangements that they have and will put in place to gain the maximum benefit from the recent announcement by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation that Athy will now be part of the new regional aid map where capital and employment grants can be paid under EU rules.
Report: This matter is being considered and report will be available for the next committee meeting.
