Countryside should not be a dumping ground – Senator Mark Wall

Senator Mark Wall, has welcomed the news that Kildare County Council will launch an advertisement campaign in the coming days regarding the upsurge in illegal dumping and fly tipping in recent weeks.

Senator Wall has had a number of conversations with the Director of Services of Kildare County Council on the urgent issue over the last number of days. Commenting on the upsurge , Senator Wall stated ” Over the last number of days, I’ve being contacted by a large number of people in disgust at what they are seeing on our roads and rural roads in particular. During these most difficult times, our beautiful countrysides are under attack by this upsurge in illegal dumping. Following conversations with the Director of Services for environment in Kildare County Council, I’m informed that Kildare County Council will launch a local advertisement campaign , ensure their community wardens are back out investigating and prosecuting those involved and that they will target areas with covert cameras.

There is also a need for National intervention on this issue and I look forward to working on much needed more powerful legalisation that will ensure those that destroy our countryside and roads pay the full price for their actions.
